(Stockholm, April 12 2010) ServiceFactory AB, a Birdstep Technology company (OSE: BIRD), has been awarded a Policy Management contract with 3 Scandinavia for Radio Network Load Control. The contract value is 1,6 MNOK.

This function for Radio Network Load Control will be provided as an application on the Mobile Data Policy Engine (MDPE). It will secure access to the mobile networks for prioritized groups of users in case of congestion.

“We are honored for the confidence 3 Scandinavia is giving ServiceFactory and it’s naturally very positive to see the number of applications on our MDPE-platform expanding further.” says Tomas Rybing, CEO at ServiceFactory AB.

Kaj Ahlkvist, OSS Manager at 3 Scandinavia, "ServiceFactory has proven both its ability and competence to rapidly deliver tailored applications in a cost effective way. We have therefore decided to choose ServiceFactory for the continued development of real time applications enhancing our network further.”

MDPE is a solution for policy and service control that efficiently controls subscribers' access to mobile data services and applications, and is compliant with 3GPP’s PCRF standards (Policy and Charging Rules Function). MDPE provides those applications with a granular view of subscriber context and session state. It allows dynamic control and single point management of the mobile data network.

The award of the 3 Scandinavia contract to ServiceFactory was already announced to the Oslo Stock Exchange on the 25th of February 2010 by Birdstep Technology ASA.
