ServiceFactory’s technology has the ability to deliver the right consumer service to the right subscriber in large scale mobile networks, and to control the network resources while maintaining the granular and real-time control of who-does-what in the network. ServiceFactory was initially a spin-out from Telia in 1999 bringing the products and experience of developing and deploying the large scale service delivery solution for Telia’s Internet launch.

ServiceFactory is an independent company within Birdstep Technology through Birdstep’s acquisition of ServiceFactory in 2007.

The technology solutions from ServiceFactory are delivered under the brand Orbyte®. The solution architecture is a carrier-grade proven, highly scalable service and policy management system for mobile and fixed broadband network operators and service providers. Orbyte offers advanced features for subscriber authentication, policy enforcement and control, accounting and service management, allowing network operators to rapidly deploy and manage large networks with one single system. The system can be deployed in a centralized or decentralized configuration, effectively integrated into existing operation and business support systems.

Leveraging the features and service capabilities inherent to the Orbyte solutions, service providers can introduce and explore highly customized service offerings, supporting a great variety of business models. The system is based on modular and open design principles and will allow service providers to continuously evolve their business in line with emerging market opportunities.

The Orbyte system consists of a centralized service and policy management system and a distributed access management system.

Orbyte has been in commercial service since 1995 and is today deployed at leading operators throughout Europe, managing millions of users. Customers include Eircom, 3 Scandinavia, Linkem Italy, Sunrise Switzerland, TDC, TeliaSonera, DU (Dubai) and Romtelecom. ServiceFactory partners with Ericsson among other companies.
